Immortal Bodies – After Rapture or Death

What Will Our Incorruptible Immortal Bodies Be Like?

The resurrected Lord Jesus is the measure of our future existence. He could appear and disappear at will. He could move through solid walls. He could be seen and felt. He could eat food, though apparently it wasn’t necessary. Though glorified, Jesus could be recognized. Furthermore, the Bible shows us, our resurrected bodies will no longer experience death, aging, crying, mourning, sorrow or pain.

The only problem with resurrection is that you have to die to experience it. But in the midst of Paul’s teaching on resurrection, he says, “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.” (1 Cor. 15:51).

What Paul is telling us here is that all Christians will not die. He explains: “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.” (see 1 Cor. 15:51-52). Just think of it. In the flash of a nanosecond, every living believer on earth will be gone, vanished, bye-bye, sayonara, outta here.

Now this is not good news for those left on earth. Imagine what it will be like when only unbelievers are populating the earth. How will all this happen exactly? Well, we’ll literally be “caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air,” according to (1 Thess. 4:17). When will this happen? In Luke 12, Jesus tells believers to be ready for His return because He is coming “at an hour that you do not expect” (Luke 12:40).
